About Me? I like to cook. And that's because I like to eat. I'm a Haining. Unknowingly, my folks taught me that if you don't like what you're given, learn to make it better. You can find me in the shop, at the dinner table, or in the kitchen. I love my family. I can't stand people that talk behind your back. I love to make all kinds objects. Tables, Chairs, Beds, boxes, Jewelry, Wood, Metal, Joined, Welded, Bent, Recycled, Found, all of it. You tell me what you want, or better yet, show me a tiny chicken scratched drawing of what you want and tell me a few descriptive words. I can make it. I create utilitarian pieces, both elegant and functional. I'm not one that generally makes things pretty for pretty's sake. I want you to kick your feet up on my table and stay a while. I like to garden. There's nothing like biting into a warm home-grown heirloom tomato fresh off the vine. I dropped out of the first college I went to with a 0.87 GPA. I had no idea what I wanted at 18. My head was in a very different place. I bounced around, East Coast, West Coast, North, South, Overseas. Backpacked for months on end. I worked my way up from dish washer to sous chef at a restaurant in Upstate NY. I sold above ground pools. That was terrible. In 2nd grade, my teacher sent me home with a note pinned to my shirt that said, "Please talk to your son, he is encouraging other students to urinate on the floor." A born leader. My mom still has that note. I re-discovered the arts. It was love at second, or third sight. I went back to school and graduated with my future wife, a 3.75 GPA, and a BFA in Furniture Design from the #1 Art and Design School in the country, RISD. I take pride in what I do. I was born in Atlanta, GA. I live in Brooklyn, NY. I have no Southern Accent, but I do have manners.
